     Course Description:

     Answer the age old question, "what do you want to be when you grow up"? Explore different career paths, identify personal strengths, build a resume, and practice interviewing skills. Meet and get to ask questions to professionals in different careers

     

    Course Goals and/or Major Student Outcomes: 

    Students will explore different occupations and speak to people who are experts in their field. Students will learn basic employment skills such as interviewing skills, create a resume and cover letter. 

    - Create a resume

    - Create a career plan

    - Complete career interest profile and identify what areas they are most skilled in

    - Learn and practice safety measures in different work environments

    - Get an opportunity to talk to professionals in a wide variety of professions

    - Navigate and access information about professions on Occupational Outlook. 

    - Gain interviewing skills 

    - Practice a mock interview

    - Be exposed to the different types of professional dress codes

    - Discuss how to have a healthy relationship with employees and employers

    - How to resolve conflicts in work placement

    Grading:

    10% Attendance and Participation

    30% Summative Assessments

    60% Class Work/Independent Work
