This course is the first in a 2 year study of world history. Global 1 will begin with a refresh of basic geography and map skills. We will also examine what it means to study history and how it is done effectively. Students will be introduced to enduring issues and themes and how they connect to historical analysis. Enduring issues and themes will be crucial for success in Global History and Geography 2, so we will lay the foundations this year in 9th grade. Our course map will begin with the study of early humans, the growth of civilizations, religions, social structures, empires and dynasties, the Middle Ages and through to the age of discovery.
