DISCUSSION
1. Number of First Grade Sections
The Superintendent did an analysis per the Board’s request. The Board established parameters for moving
three sections to four. It was reported
that there are sixty-six students at this time for first grade. It was suggested that a teaching assistant
could be added if there were three sections.
The number of special education students and their needs were
discussed. It was decided that a fourth
section was not needed at this time and an assessment of the first grade would
be submitted to the Board in October.
2. Management Model for Food Service Department
The Board has been looking at two different models for the Food Service Department. One way is how it has always been done by the District through civil service appointment of Dutchess County Personnel. The second model is to hire a person as a cook manager with oversight provided by someone other than the cook manager who can only cook and manage by that job description. BOCES would be willing to do a COSER with us if we could find someone to do administrative duties. However, the District would need another school to share that position with Webutuck. A Board member asked how many hours would be involved in those administrative duties. It would fluctuate during the year. The person that was contacted to see if she would work with Webutuck on a part-time basis along with her other job in another District was not really interested in doing so. It was also suggested the School Business Official take on the administrative duties of food service. Discussion ensued.
