Senior Trip Filled with Memories for Students, Staff
Kai Brant and 41 of his high school classmates will cherish the moments they shared on their senior trip to Stowe, Vt.
“It was fantastic if you love the snow and you love the cold. I love skiing and it was an absolute blast. It was great,” said Brant.
The seniors left for their four-hour trip on March 6 and returned March 9, staying three nights in European style accommodations at the Trapp Family Lodge that is owned and operated by the von Trapp family that inspired the Broadway show and movie classic, The Sound of Music.
The students and staff had the opportunity to participate in activities such as snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating and snowboarding. They also toured the lodge and watched The Sound of Music. On the return trip to the Hudson Valley, they stopped to tour a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory.
Paris Perkins always wanted to snowboard and had an opportunity to do so on the trip.
“Snowboarding for seven hours was the highlight of the trip for me personally because it felt unreal to finally do something I’ve been craving for years,” the senior said.
The seniors were accompanied on the trip by Principal Robert Knuschke, Athletic Director Joe Lasaponara and senior class advisors – Jonathan Scarinzi, Leah Sprague and Nicole Charriez.
“Amazing,” said Scarinzi of the trip. “The students were well behaved and enjoyed the trip. The food was amazing. The lodge did a great job in catering to all of the students.”
Scarinzi added the senior class is planning a trip in June to the Rocking Horse Ranch in Ulster County, and planning is underway for the 2023-2024 senior class trip, which may have the Class of 2024 visiting the Trapp Family Lodge.
“I hope they do because for me personally I would go again anytime of the year because from the pictures you could see the views of the lodge, it looks beautiful in either summer, winter, and I hope someone else gets to experience that, not just us,” said Perkins.
