Students, staff to benefit from over $30,000 in grant money

Service clubWebutuck students and staff will benefit from 25 grants totaling over $30,000 from The Webutuck Quest for Excellence Fund through the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

Total grants awarded by Quest through the years now totals $123,705.

“We can’t thank you enough! These grants will afford educational opportunities to many of our students!” said Superintendent of Schools Raymond Castellani in a letter to Committee Chair Lynn Buckley and Quest Board of Directors.

“We look forward to our continued partnership and your support of our teachers and students.”

Students, teachers, administrators, community members and nonprofits may apply for a grant that enhances the educational experience of Webutuck students and teachers.

This year’s awarded grants will benefit students in all three Boston tripschools. Renee Palmer, elementary teacher, received a Math Enrichment grant of $750, and high school junior Giana Kall was given $650 in grant money for the Webutuck Service Club.

Teacher Jonathan Scarinzi was a grant recipient of $2,500 to support the eighth grade class trip to Boston. He said the money will support four full scholarships and 11 partial scholarships for students, who could not afford the trip.

“We’re extremely grateful because we wouldn’t be able to offer scholarships if not for their support,” said Scarinzi.
