Megan Espinoza – AIS, Reading Teacher
Megan Espinoza is in her first year as a full-time teacher in the district. She currently is an academic intervention services (AIS) teacher for kindergarteners in the elementary school, and teaches fourth and fifth grade reading class in the intermediate school.
During the 2021-2022 school year, Espinoza was a leave replacement teacher in the intermediate school and a substitute teacher in the elementary school. She previously taught for four years at Brewster High School.
“I like this community,” she said. “I like that it’s small. I believe and also feel that I can make a difference here. Students listen to me and they’re willing to learn. My biggest thing has always been to make connections with the kids so that’s really the time I spent last year was building those relationships.
“It’s nice coming in and being welcomed back having those relationships built.”
Espinoza, who grew up in Westchester County, earned her degrees from Mercy College, a bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts and Adolescence Education and a master’s degree in kindergarten through 12th grade literacy.
Espinoza enjoys reading, spending time with her family, going on vacations and geocaching.
