Cast, crew expecting laughs at “Clue” performances

The young actors from Eugene Brooks Intermediate School will have family and friends laughing during their performance of the district’s production of “Clue” on March 28-30.

ClueTickets will be sold at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Seniors and children under kindergarten age will be admitted free. “Clue” merchandise also will be sold and money raised from ticket and merchandise sales will go to the drama club.

“I’m very excited about the play,” said fourth grader Elaina Howard, who plays the cook. “I think it’s going to be a good show. I hope a lot of people are going to come and enjoy it.

“I think they’ll love it. I think they’re going to enjoy the funny parts. I think they’re going to laugh.”

“Clue” was chosen by many high school drama clubs to be their school play during the 2024-2025 school year. Webutuck’s production of “Clue” will feature a cast of students from Eugene Brooks Intermediate School. Liam Diaz (Wadsworth the butler), Caroline Eschbach (Mrs. White), Jacob Dean (Mr. Green) and Lois Musgrove (Mrs. Peacock) are just some of the young cast members.

Clue“It’s coming along well,” said Musgrove, a fourth grader and a fan of murder mystery books. “It’s been long and quite stressful, but I’m having a lot of fun.

“I really like the people in the play. Everyone is really nice and caring.”

Adviser and music/chorus teacher Kaylee Kelsey said this is the first school production in five years.

“It’s a great opportunity for younger students to be involved and make their mark on the school without having to wait until they’re older,” she said.

“I’m very happy, very proud of them and it’ll be a really great show.”

“Clue” was originally a board game dating back to the 1940s in the United Kingdom. It later became a play on stage and a 1985 comedy mystery film in movie theaters starring Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren.

In the movie, six guests are invited to a mansion for dinner and a murder mystery develops. The guests and staff become suspects and work together to identify the murderer.

Fourth grader Alana Diaz has a role in the cast and on the stage crew. She’s excited about the upcoming show.

“The show is going to be good because it’s coming along really well,” she said.
