Sam McKenna – School Counselor
Sam McKenna joins the Webutuck Central School District as a school counselor and junior varsity volleyball coach.
McKenna replaces Darlene McLaughlin, who retired, and will serve as school counselor for students in grades seven through 12th grade with last names A-to-K.
“I appreciate so much my time with her and how much she impacted me in a short period of time,” said McKenna, who shadowed McLaughlin on campus in the spring.
“I learned how close of a community it is and there is so much community involvement. I really appreciate that, especially coming from Millbrook, which is a small tight-knit community.”

The graduate of Millbrook High School competed in three state final fours as a member of the girls volleyball program and won a state girls basketball championship with the Blazers in 2018.
McKenna, who coached Millbrook’s modified volleyball team for two years and was an assistant varsity volleyball coach for one, stepped in before the start of preseason to coach Webutuck’s junior varsity team.
“Volleyball is such a fun sport,” she said.
McKenna played basketball at Mitchell College in Connecticut, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and later received a master’s degree in school counseling from Arkansas State University.
McKenna enjoys sports, the outdoors, reading and a good cup of coffee.
“I want to help them in any way I can,” she said of Webutuck students. “Between college, the military, trade schools and the workforce, I want them to know there are so many options. I will support them no matter what their decision is.”
