District students receive donated clothes from Silo Ridge

The Webutuck Central School District received 40-plus bags of new clothes from the Silo Ridge Community Foundation that were distributed to students in need.

“They’ve been wonderful partners for us,” said Robert Knuschke, district principal. “They do a lot for our schools and students. They’re very engaged, very attentive community partners with us. They donate a lot of their time and resources to our students and we can’t thank them enough.”

The garments include shirts, socks, sweatpants, jackets and other essential items. Knuschke and Webutuck Elementary School nurse Kaitlin Mostachetti worked with staff in all three buildings to come up with a spreadsheet to identify students in need of clothing.

“The partnership with the school has always been important and close to my heart,” said Danielle Mollica, Silo Ridge Community Foundation’s executive director. “The students are wonderful kids who deserve the world, and we look forward to seeing that through each year.”

Mollica said Silo Ridge contacted the district after Mostachetti informed the foundation there were several students in urgent need of basic clothing items.

This is the most recent example of the partnership between the district and the foundation. The collaboration includes monthly visits by therapy dogs with Boots & Paws from Guardian Revival to the elementary school, and Mollica recently participated as a speaker at the high school’s career day.

“The partnership remains strong because it is built on trust, communication, and a shared dedication to putting students first,” said Mollica. “The district communicates needs openly, and Silo Ridge consistently steps up to support students and families in meaningful ways. Both sides believe deeply in the power of community collaboration and understand that when everyone works together, students benefit most.”
