Board members receive handmade gift from students

Board cutting boards

Please take a moment to say thank you to your Board of Education members.

Board of Education Appreciation Week was in October, and board members were recognized for all they do at the recent board meeting with each being presented a cutting board made by Aaron Howard’s materials processing students.

Howard said, “At Monday night’s BOE meeting, my son Nolan and I presented each board member with a student-made ash cutting board from our materials processing class. Students learned the full process – jointing, planning, ripping to width, glue-up and clamping, surfacing to final thickness, rounding over edges with a handheld router, laser-engraving the Webutuck Wildcat, and applying food-safe oil/conditioner – an example of the project-based learning the board values. The ash lumber was generously donated by Phil Carroll of Phil Carroll Trucking in Amenia.
