W.C.S.D. Wellness Advisory Committee

 

Purpose:

 

·         This committee’s purpose is to work with the Board of Education, its staff, community members, parents and students to develop an updated  yearly working policy that will guide the district’s desire to provide keen awareness of wellness-related issues/concerns and to develop appropriate working practices within the school setting.

 

Authority:

 

·         The work of this committee is strictly advisory to the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools.  The work of this committee must first be brought to the Superintendent of Schools for review and completeness.  The findings of this committee will be brought to the Board of Education in the form of written recommendations.

 

Charges:

 

·         The WCSD Wellness Committee will meet at least quarterly to review the wellness concerns of the district’s programs, curriculum, food services, physical education offerings/compliances and wellness-related activities for staff and students.

·         The WCSD Wellness Committee will review the Wellness Policy (#115) of the Board of Education yearly and will make recommendations, when deemed necessary, to modify it to reflect changing needs/ regulations and concerns.

·          All meetings of the WCSD Wellness Committee shall be recorded in the form of formal written minutes.

 

Reporting Cycle:

 

·         Each school year, the WCSD Wellness Committee will bring its written recommendations and findings to the Board of Education by the second week of May.

·         The leadership of the WCSD Wellness Committee shall meet with the Superintendent of Schools no later than October 15 and January 15 of each school year to discuss topics of concern and interest.

 

Committee Membership:

 

·         The membership of the WCSD Wellness Committee shall consist of two building level administrators, four parents/community members, four teachers, two support staff, two students and four community members.  District Office administrators may attend any/all meetings of this committee.  The Elementary Principal will serve as Chairperson for the first year of this committee.

·         The membership of this committee shall be brought to the Board of Education yearly at their September meeting for official recognition and appointment.

·         Meetings of this committee will be planned at times that are mutually convenient for all committee members.
