EBMS\
EBMS
Principal Dieter Schimmelpfennig has been pleased
with the beginning of the school year, as is reflected in his broad smile
whenever you see him. Open House has been held, after school clubs have
begun and students and teachers are engaged in the learning process. The
sixth grade class is participating in the Bardavon's
Young Playwright Program. Staff from the Bardavon
work with our students here, and at the Bardavon, and
the program culminates with a student written and produced production. PTA fundraising helped to offset the cost of this experience for
our students.
VP
Herb Johnson was very pleased with the middle school's rate of participation in
this year's fall fundraiser, a big thanks to all families who helped in this
effort.
Thank
you to Ernie Lowell for his help during the 6th grade locker day cook-out.
WHS
Principal
Jay Posephney greeted parents at Curriculum Night on
September 30th and Spirit Week was the week of Oct.6th. Different theme
days were planned to encourage school spirit ending with a two day Homecoming
celebration which included a Pep Rally, Bonfire, Homecoming boys
varsity soccer game and the Homecoming Dance.
The
annual Make a Difference Day Blood Drive and Community Day will be Saturday, October
25th at the high school. Along with the Red Cross blood drive, the
high school student organizations will welcome the community to a
family-fun-filled day. Each group will host an activity or sell
refreshments. The Junior class will be holding "Spook-A-Rama",
a Halloween carnival and haunted house for preschool age though sixth
grade. There will be games, prizes and a
costume contest will be held at 12:00 noon. Look for more
information on the website, www.webutuckschools.org.
A special thanks to past PTA president, Val Corcoran, and past treasurer Pat Ackerman for all their help.
Book Fairs
The AES Scholastic Book
Fair was held from Oct 6 through Oct 10, many thanks to the parent volunteers.
EBMS Book Fair will run from Oct. 20 through the 24th and WES will have its
sale from Oct.27 through Oct 31. The PTA earns credit/vouchers from
the sale of the books. This credit is used by our teachers to purchase
books and materials for the classrooms and libraries.
Thank you to book-fair chairmen Herb Johnson and Trini
Stevens.
Message from the K-5
Principal
Dear families and
friends,
My beginning at Webutuck has been wonderful and filled with warm
welcomes. I appreciate all the kind wishes I have received.
As many of you know I
have returned to Webutuck after seven years.
Much has changed and I have spent a great deal of time trying to get myself
reacquainted with the district. I was in the past, and still am,
impressed how dedicated the staff are and how well mannered the students seem
to be. I am proud to be here and look forward to working with everyone
for a long time to come.
I realize how difficult
it is for all to attend PTA meetings but I would like to hear your wishes and
wants so I may address them. Please feel free to contact me at kmcenroe@webutuckschools.org
Thank you again for
making me feel at “home”. Katy McEnroe
AES Playground news
The dream of a new
playground at Amenia Elementary is alive and well.
The Playground Committee met September 25. They hope to rekindle efforts to
raise funds to replace the outdated wood playset with new, equipment that is handicap
accessible.
Fundraising for the
project began last year with the Volleyball Tournament held in May which raised over $4,000! Plans are in the works for a 2nd
annual event. The Committee has also been awarded a $2,500 grant from the
Northeast Dutchess Fund. More fundraising and grants
will be pursued in order to reach the $50,000 goal set.
If anyone would
like to join the committee or give us some input, please contact one of the
co-chairs: Heather Farr Killmer or Marilyn Unger at
AES, 373-4120.
