PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

In compliance with the requirements of both federal and state laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities, Webutuck Central School District shall provide appropriate programs and maintain records for each child identified by the Committee on Special Education. Pursuant to the above, the Board of Education sets the following guidelines:

 

I.       Opportunities for Students with Disabilities

 

Each student with a disability shall have access-to the full range of programs and services of the district. Such programs and services include, but are not limited to:

 

  1. all courses required for a high school diploma,
  2. required state achievement and competency tests,
  3. Regents and accelerated courses,
  4. remedial instruction,
  5. second language instruction,
  6. computer instruction and usage,
  7. occupational education,
  8. high school equivalency programs, and
  9. guidance and career education.

 

District programs such as extra-curricular sports, clubs, and all other activities shall be extended to students with disabilities by following the procedures for regular students. No student shall be excluded from participation based solely upon the presence of a disability.

 

Building administrators shall be made aware of all students with disabilities attending programs in their schools by the Committee on Special Education chairperson.
